INGREDIENTS

  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Jeera (Cumin) – ½ tsp
  • Hing – 2 pinches
  • Curry leaves – 1 handful
  • Onion – 1 big (finely chopped)
  • Green chilli – 1 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste – ½ tbsp
  • Tomatoes – 2 big (finely chopped)
  • Cooked white peas – 2 cups
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – 1 cup (add more if needed)
  • Homemade sambar powder – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)

PREPARATION STEPS

  1. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, jeera, hing, and curry leaves.
  2. After a minute, add chopped onion and green chilli. Sauté till translucent.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for 1 minute.
  4. Add tomatoes and cook till soft and juicy.
  5. Add cooked white peas, mash half of them roughly, and mix well.
  6. Add salt and 1 cup water. Simmer on low flame for 15 minutes.
  7. Add homemade sambar powder, adjust water as needed.
  8. Finish with fresh coriander. Serve hot with dosa or roti.
